Can you use a multimeter instead of a 12v light tester?

my mm is built by fluke and can also take a picture of injector pulse as well as run realtime.also has temperature leads and a very handy alarm for continuity and present voltage as well as autoranging.i dont even own a 12 volt light anymore.they sell a handy 12 v tester that grounds through you and takes either 1 or 2 batteries not sure.its the size of a large pen and has an alarm and an led.a little expensive but worth it.so you probe your wire, reach out and touch metal and it goes beep.
